Kenya Spring Update

MINISTRY: Mission Barnabas [US Name] / Clarence Matheny Ministries (CMM) [Kenyan Name]

MINISTRY PURPOSE: Developing Generational Leaders for Christ in Eastern Africa through conferences, pastors trainings, and a Bible School.

TESTIMONY:
The Launch of RPL is an answered prayer, it has given an opportunity for the rural pastors to be certified and recognized. CSM has two cohorts currently going on.

The Wellspring container is a big blessing! It has many books and resources to be provided for pastors in need.

KNOW:
CMM is officially recognized as an accepted facilitator for many of the qualification tests and competency assessments for pastors in Kenya. This aligns with the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF) and the government's push through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system to formally recognize the skills and experience of religious leaders.

What This Entails: CMM, through Clarence Matheny Bible College (CMBC), can now facilitate structured assessment and training pathways. Pastors gain nationally recognized credits or certifications for their ministry experience and prior learning. This is part of the broader Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) initiative in Kenya, which values informal and non-formal learning (such as years of pastoral work, self-study, preaching, counseling, and church leadership) against official competency standards.

Instead of requiring pastors to start theological education from scratch (often a barrier due to time, cost, or academic prerequisites), RPL allows them to have their existing knowledge and skills assessed, documented, and credited toward formal qualifications.

Pastors “pass” by demonstrating competence against the learning outcomes — not through traditional exams alone, but through real-life evidence and targeted assessments. Many can complete this without long residential stays, making it highly accessible.

This RPL program is especially transformative for rural pastors, who often serve faithfully for decades with limited formal training, financial resources, or access to urban Bible colleges.

PRAY:
That the RPL Program will go on well. Also pray that CMM will have more pastors sign in.

Business has been slow and CMM is behind in paying the staff for recent pay.

GIVE:
The pastors going through CMBC need to raise $75 to go through the assessment process at CMM, this includes their accommodation/meals for 1 night at CMM during the assessment.

Also, CMM has experienced low income in the last 2 months. They are behind with Staff Salaries amounting to $30,000.00. The middle east situation has affected few of the ministries that normally use CMMs facility.

GO [volunteer]:
At this moment, CMM and CMI both request prayers be sent for their teams.

Prayers can be for energy, safety, calling and trusting in the Lord to handle their needs.
