Scripture:

Matthew 10:26-31, James 1:5, Joel 2:31, Malachi 4:5, Rev. 20:14, 1 John 4:18

What to Believe:
There will be a day when all hidden things will be seen and judged by a perfect God. Conviction is a good thing.  Matthew 10:26 – The Lord will reveal all things as He sees all knows all and reveals all. The fact that God judges sin is either bad or neutral news based on whether or not we have unconfessed sin but if we have nothing to hide then we should have no reason to fear

  • For the person who has hidden sin it can be scary news and not good. The solution is to repent.

  • For the person who has no hidden sin it's not scary and can even be good, because it leads to justice. It is good news for those who have done good but not yet been recognized for it, and for those who have suffered injustice and have yet to receive justice

Matthew 10:27 “what I tell you in the dark, say in the light what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.”

Matthew 10:28 – don't fear those who can kill you and can't kill the soul, but fear him who can destroy you soul and body in hell. Hell also known as Hades in the Greek language. It signified a place our spirits go after our first death,  a place of waiting. Rev 20:14.

Some people have heard this as fear Satan, but its not accurate as it would be the first time the bible ever said to fear anyone or thing beside God.

If this is an encouragement then the fear should be towards God as he is the creator the one who has true control no one else in the world has true control like God does. It puts fear in the appropriate context and place it needs to be

God remains worthy of being feared and God also removes the fear from us by his own love

Matthew 10:29-31–You are valuable to God. If He cares about even the sparrows, how much more does He value you? God sees you. He knows you. He cares for you.

How to Obey:

Consider how to protect your spiritual life.

Do not play with sin, instead confess it and repent.

How to Walk Intimately with God:

Examine your fear of God.

Do you fear God too much? If so, consider Matthew 10:29-31 and His tender care.

Do you fear God too little? Remind yourself that God does not overlook sin. He either judges it or forgives it. Don’t play with sin. Confess it and be forgiven.
