To Us a Son Is Given
Sermon Series: “For Unto Us” an Advent Series
Speaker: Lead Pastor - Dustin Aguilar
Scriptures:
Isaiah 9:6
Context:Isaiah 8:22-9:7
What We Believe:
The Gentiles were walking in darkness.
A light would come that would multiply the nation of Israel.
God would adopt the world of Gentiles and graft them into the nation of Israel.
The light coming into the world brings joy.
Jesus is not a “killjoy.”
On the contrary, he is the source of true joy.
The light breaks oppression.
It breaks the yoke, or power, of the oppressor.
The light brings ultimate, world-wide peace.
God Himself would come into the world.
In the midst of war, we can know the personal Prince of Peace.
When Christ returns, His Kingdom will come and the world will know physical peace.
The light has come into the world and brought joy and peace, but the world is still waiting for ultimate joy and peace.
How to Obey:
Put your trust in Jesus and invite Him to live in your heart.
How to Walk Intimately with God:
Do not lose your anticipation for the Second Coming.
This Christmas, do not simply go through the motions.
Pray: “God, increase my anticipation for the second coming.”
