Scriptures:

  • Genesis 3:1-6

  • Proverbs 3:5

What we believe:

Our flesh has the ability to trick us into believing false things because they feel true.

  • Genesis 3:1 - Did God really say you can't eat from any tree in the Garden? Satan said

  • Genesis 3:2-3 Eve said God said we could eat from any tree except the center lest you touch it and die

  • Genesis 3:4-5 but the serpent said you not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, knowing good and evil

  • Genesis 3:6 So whenever Eve went to the tree she noticed it produced good fruit, it was a delight to the eyes, and lastly she desired it so it could make her wise.(she desired it and wanted it)

The objects of our desires, or lusts, are not necessarily evil things. They often tell us to engage with GOOD things in a BAD way.

  • People who get into drugs want to escape pain and sadness and, ultimately God will wipe away all pain, sorrow and tears for those in Christ, but that's where drugs come in to offer easy bad options.

  • We crave a lot of things which are good but access them in bad ways.

  • Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding

  • Trauma is trauma not by how bad it seems but how it affects you. References–”Parts works” by therapists is working on broken parts on people. The Body Keeps the Score - book written by a neuroscientist. Trauma can cause a soul to fracture and have an alternate personality and the charismatic church would call out to this alter saying sadness come forth and it would work, their personalities would change. The clinical studies also talked about alter and splitting and disassociate which would be an automatic response to their trauma. The neuroscientist would show that when people would be triggered their brain would go down it would have a lot more of the brain dark on the scans. These memories are very vivid whether it be visually or emotionally it come flooding back when triggered. Typically those who have unresolved trauma will pursue safety or reason to deal with it.

  • Safety and reason are good things but our traumas can lead us to pursue them in bad ways.

    • Safety–Some lies that we believe about safety are: we must be safe at ALL costs, in order to be safe I must be in total control, in order to be safe I must be alone, in order to be safe I must keep people happy, in order to stay safe I can’t be alone, in order to stay safe I have to escape and physically or mentally, I have to shut down, or I have to be powerful.

    • Reason–I must try and figure out why I was traumatized ( well, i must be the reason this happened, )

The answer is the GOOD news of Jesus and his love that can pierce any heart and heal any wound

Good steps to take when administering inner healing are, speaking to the fractured parts:

  1. Acknowledge the pain

  2. Acknowledge how hard they have been working

  3. Share the gospel of Jesus with them

  4. Ask if they now want to rest from all the hard work
