What to Believe

One of the ways to tell if a Bible passage is for us today is if it is communicating a principle. Principles, such as whether church leaders like pastors should get paid or not, don’t change with time

1 Corinthians 9 shows us that it is not a sin for pastors to be paid and it’s not a sin if they choose to forgo being paid

1 Timothy shows us it’s okay for pastors to be paid for their ministry

When Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 10 not to accept payment for their ministry it was so they could learn to trust Him for all their provisions, which he had previously taught them to do in the Sermon on the Mount and to illustrate his teaching to “seek first the kingdom of God and everything you need will be added to you”

Pastors can sin by asking to be paid if the amount is unreasonable or if they’re charging for things that God freely blesses us with by being in relationship with Him

Promising that God will do something we want if we would only give money to someone’s ministry is unbiblical and a form of witchcraft

3 John shows us that we don’t give to ministries in order to receive blessings from God or to receive that ministry’s anointing but so we can “join them in the work for truth”

In Matthew 4 Jesus is quoting Deuteronomy 6:13 to Satan, which says that we are only to fear and worship God, which shows us that what we fear and what we worship are highly connected. So, if we fear not having money that is a sign that we are worshiping it rather than God

How to Obey and Walk Intimately with God

If a pastor ensure that the money you take for your ministry is enough for you to make a living and nothing more

When giving to a ministry have the mindset that you’re giving to the Lord rather than giving to receive from the Lord
