June Kenya Update
SPECIAL TESTIMONY
We were able to send a check this month to CMM filled with funds gathered through Wellspring Member donations - YOU . These are funds that have been donated throughout the year [in the future, we will deliver these 1x per quarter].
Ronnie Matheny [leader of CMM] called me the next day to explain how impactful & timely this donation was for their ministry based on some recent financial hardship coming from factors outside their control [see below].
WAY TO GO CHURCH!
TESTIMONIES
CMM has actually seen a few testimonies, miracles really…over the last few weeks.
One is how God sustained CMM through the last Bible school semester (May). Even with many students on scholarship and very little income, they were still able to run the full term—feed the students, house the boarders, print books, do exams… even pay part of the bills like electricity. They’re still trusting God for pending needs, especially with some lecturers and the partnering university, but He’s carried them thus far. That alone is a big miracle.
They also had a beautiful regional pastors’ meeting in Eastlands where they ministered and shared Bibles and books with about 500 pastors—very humbling and powerful.
And then they just learnt that Gateway has just donated a further 5,000 Bibles to come this way in the next shipping container through Wellspring’s warehouse…yet another miracle.
Lastly, they really thank God for sparing Ronnie and Debbie after they were involved in a bad road accident in Meridian last week. The car may be totaled, but their lives were spared. Debbie had bruises on both arms and chest due to the airbags deploying, but thankfully no serious injuries. We’re praying the insurance acts quickly, but most importantly, we’re so grateful for their safety.
God is faithful. These moments really stir their faith for what’s ahead.
Here is what you need to KNOW | PRAY | GIVE | GO for this month:
KNOW
CMM and N2N are partnering together with Wellspring Church [and other stateside churches] to host a conference in September to train and equip pastors and leaders in Eastern Africa on how to start Bible Colleges in their home town.
This is a unique and powerful opportunity to impact 500+ leaders who will impact hundreds and thousands of people in their towns!
This is the first partnership of its kind between N2N & CMM and they were introduced via connection from Wellspring.
Praise God!
PRAY
Clarence Matheny Ministries is facing a unique and heavy challenge this month - there has been a sudden drop in occupancy at CMM, due to large cancellations from international groups. This has greatly impacted anticipated revenue and, in turn, their ability to manage daily operations effectively.
A large burden for Clarence Matheny Ministries right now is sustaining the current staff. CMM was unable to fully pay staff for the month of May, and now with the end of June quickly approaching, the pressure is increasing. They are requesting prayers for wisdom on how to navigate this difficulty.
GIVE
Wellsprings support in helping clear outstanding staff dues. The Human Resource team is the heartbeat of CMM and, right now, they currently have 55 staff members. Any support in this would be a large blessing.
If you want to give financially to Kenya, go to our GIVE page and select “Kenya”.
GO
If you are interested in volunteering to go on our trip to Kenya in September to help train leaders in Eastern Africa please let us know!
