Scripture:

Matt. 10:11-15, Luke 10:5+, I Sam. 25:6, I Chron. 12:18,  Matt. 3:6, Eph. 4:1, Col. 1:10, I Thes. 2:12, 2 Thes. 1:11, I cor. 5:11-12

What to Believe:

  • Jesus gave instructions to the disciples in Matt. 10:11-15 about what to do as they go out and who they were being sent to.

    • Search for a worthy person.

    • As you enter the house, greet it = Request hospitality from the house

    • Let your peace come upon it = Partner with the people in the house

    • If the house is worthy, let your peace rest upon it. If not, your peace will return to you and you will shake the dust of that place from your shoes.

  • Worthiness (in Greek-Axios) is not best defined in terms of the basic worth of all humans, but rather as the character of living in keeping with the Kingdom of Heaven.

  • Who were the disciples sent to? They were sent to the people of God, the people who knew how to be forgiven, who had access to God. If those people were living in an unworthy manner, the disciples were to shake the dust of that community from their shoes.

  • As believers, are we to seek Unity at all cost? NO! I Cor 5:11-12 teaches the opposite of this. We are to judge whether believers are living lives in keeping with the Kingdom of Heaven and not associate with those who do not.

How to Obey:

  • Live a life of humility and repentance.

  • Expect more godliness from your leaders, and yourself.

How to Walk Intimately with God:

  • Ask God to reveal sin in your own heart and to give you courage to confront sin within the body.
