Widows & Orphans Summer Update

MINISTRY: Widows & Orphans Network / My Father’s Work | Keller, TX

MINISTRY PURPOSE: Care for & meet the needs of widows, orphans, and single parent families in DFW.

KNOW:
In the past quarter Widows and Orphans Network has experienced several weather related challenges for the monthly Ranch Day events. Rainy days in May and June, and extreme heat in July and August gave us opportunities to trust God and rely on His timing. Each time the Lord provided ways to be flexible and compassionate to our attendees and volunteers.

In August, we replaced the garage sale event with water activities for kids for the first time in our nearly 26 year history. All of the kids loved the fun way to keep cool on a very hot day.

PRAY:
Jesus said, "the harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Luke 10:2 NKJV

As Widows and Orphans Network continues to thrive, we need additional volunteers across every activity on Ranch Day. Particularly during the holidays and summer travel season so many of our volunteers have taken a much deserved break with their families. This provides opportunities for others to serve either temporarily or as a new continuing commitment. Please pray that God will continue to provide people with a heart to serve single parents and widows at Ranch Day.

GIVE:
As the "back to school" season is fast approaching, we could definitely use book bags, school supplies, and school appropriate clothing for kids. We would love to be a tool for our Father to provide these much needed items at the monthly garage sale in September.

GO:
September 5th is the last Ranch Day of this quarter, and for the fourth quarter we will need volunteers on October 3rd, November 7th, and December 5th. Volunteers should plan from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on each day.

Fourth quarter is always our busiest, with Thanksgiving meal and Angel Tree sign-ups in October, Thanksgiving meal distribution in November, and an additional Angel Tree gift distribution on Saturday, December 12th.
