Kairos 2025 EOY Update

MINISTRY: Kairos Prison Ministry | International Ministry…we support the Michael Unit

MINISTRY PURPOSE: to bring the love of Jesus into prisons across the globe.

TESTIMONY:
The most recent Kairos event took place October 30 – November 2. The Michael Unit, a maximum-security prison in East Texas, scheduled the event on Halloween weekend. Kairos volunteers knew there could be an enormous amount of demonic activity within the prison. But God is greater! There were no noticeable effects and everything went smoothly. That is wonderful news considering the people chosen to attend were the more problematic inmates.

Only 42 prisoners are allowed to attend, and some wait years for their chance. At this event, something happened that has not happened in 15 years. It is difficult to explain with words what the Holy Spirit did.

To give you context, just know there are violent gangs in prison and division between races. During the event, a man who was really struggling acknowledged his need for prayer. The whole group, various races of inmates, came down and started praying for him. The Holy Spirit came upon the man, and he got deliverance. There was unification among the races which you never expect to happen. God breaks down walls!

God uses this 4-day event to transform lives and create Christian communities inside prisons that decrease prison violence. Although these prisoners have had lives that are full of failures, God looks beyond their faults and loves to bring forth His likeness in each person. That is the message of Kairos.

KNOW:
Kairos prison ministry is on a mission to develop a Christian community inside prisons. We are focused on the Michael Unit in East Texas were there are 2,500 men in prison.

A special Kairos 3 ½ day event is offered two or three times a year where only 42 men can participate. Some of these men have waited to be chosen to be a part of the Kairos event for 10 to 20 years!

PRAY:
* Pray that one prisoner would tell another prisoner the truth about Jesus and that the gospel would be clearly explained.
* Please pray for additional volunteers who are called and able to serve long-term.
* Ray and Diana DeBord would love it if you prayed for their health. They don’t want sickness and problems to be a distraction.

GIVE:
The next Kairos event will take place in March or April. While there is not an opportunity to give right now, once the next event is closer, Ray and Diana DeBord will be collecting donations. A $5 donation will cover the cost of one meal for a prisoner to eat during the event.

If you would like to give, please go to the GIVE portion of our website and click Kairos on the dropdown.

GO:
Volunteer for a Weekend - If you would like to join our team to volunteer for the weekend, send an email to David@wellspringdfw.org. As you might imagine, there is a significant prep & training process prior to being able to go into the prisons.

Write a Letter - as a part of the weekend, each inmate that attends receives letters from folks who are praying for them. For many of the inmates, these letters are treated like gold. They get a small piece of the love of God’s church has for prisoners who feel forgotten and stained in this world. The impact is powerful.

If you would like to write letters to the prisoners, please send an email to david@wellspringdfw.org.
