Attention parents:
On September 21st we will have our annual ‘Sex Education’ talk during the time regularly scheduled for our youth service (7-8:30pm). Growing up I never had the opportunity to hear a biblical perspective on sex until I was a junior in high school. It was then that I attended Wellspring’s 1st sex education day, and I was amazed to hear that God was not ashamed of sex and had actually given it to us as a gift to be used within the proper context of marriage. This talk radically changed my perspective on sex in a very positive way. It instilled in me a passion for purity and a healthy understanding of sex as opposed to the perversions students hear so often from their peers in school.
I plan on teaching about God’s perspective on sex (citing scripture) and the value of pursuing purity followed by a ‘question and answer’ time. We will split the boys and the girls up for the Q&A time, allowing them to anonymously ask whatever questions they have about sex or relationships. If the question is deemed appropriate and if we believe the answer is something that will benefit the student in their pursuit of purity, it will be answered honestly and maturely by either me (for the boys) or my wife Taylor (for the girls).
My goal is to promote a strong desire for purity by emphasizing how great God has intended sex to be between a husband and a wife, while perhaps giving many students their first explanation of sex from a biblical perspective. I understand that this topic is extremely sensitive, and completely respect your choice as a parent to permit or disallow your student to attend. If you permit your student to attend sex education day please sign below and have your student return it to Taylor or myself. This signed consent form is necessary for your student to attend youth on Wednesday, September 21, and possibly October 5 if we feel that we need one more session.
