We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are God’s words to man. We believe that they are without error in the original manuscripts and the final authority for faith and life (2 Pet. 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18; 2 Tim. 3:16-17; 1 Cor. 14:37).
The one true God has eternally existed in three Persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal, and one God (Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14).
We believe that our highest call and privilege in life is to enjoy God’s friendship. Out of that friendship flows worship, obedience, and all forms of service. (Luke 10:38-42; John 15:15).
Although man was created in the image of God, Adam and Eve sinned, and the image of God was corrupted in man. Since then, all people are sinners, by nature and by choice (Gen. 1:26-27; 3:6; Eph. 4:22; Rom. 3:23; 5:12-14; Eph. 2:3).
Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect life, died on a cross in the place of sinful humanity for the redemption of all mankind, rose from the dead on the third day, and He ascended into heaven. He will physically return to the earth with great glory to gather His people, judge the earth, and establish His kingdom. (John 1:1, 14; Titus 2:13; 1 Tim. 2:5; Heb. 4:15; 2 Cor. 5:21; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; Acts 1:9; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 2 Thess. 1:6-10; Rev. 1:7; 11:15).
Eternal life is a free gift from God, received by trusting Jesus for forgiveness of sins and new life. Those who reject Jesus Christ are choosing eternal punishment (Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8-9; John 3:16-18; Eph. 1:7; John 5:40; 2 Thess. 1:8-9).
Once the free gift of salvation has been received, it can never be lost. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by human effort (John 5:24; 6:39-40; 10:29; 2 Tim. 2:13; Heb. 10:14; 13:5; 7:25; 1 Pet. 1:3-5).
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, being co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. The Holy Spirit serves unbelievers by convicting them of their need for Jesus. He serves believers by living in them, guaranteeing their eternal future, assuring them of that future, leading them, teaching them, purifying them, empowering them to tell their story, and giving them spiritual gifts to serve the church. We believe in the exercise of every biblical spiritual gift (Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 3:17; Acts 5:3-4; John 16:7-13; 14:16-17; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 1:13-14; Rom. 8:16; 8:14; John 14:26; 1 Pet. 1:2; Acts 4:8-12; 1 Cor. 12:11; 14:1; Eph. 4:11-13).
The church is not a building, but a spiritual organism consisting of all believers in Christ. We believe that each local church is to be governed autonomously by the elders of that church (1 Cor. 12:12-14; Acts 13:1-4; 20:28; 1 Tim. 5:17).
We believe that our friendship with Jesus both expresses itself and reaches its full potential in the context of transparent, loving friendships with other believers (John 13:34-35; 1 John 1:3-7).
We believe that every believer has the responsibility and the privilege of sharing their story of faith with those who don’t know Jesus (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:20).
We believe that all Christians are baptized in the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ. This happens at the moment we believe in Jesus, who then baptizes us with the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:13; Acts 11:15-17).
We believe that the filling of the Holy Spirit is a temporary and repeatable empowering of the Holy Spirit that enables us to give supernatural testimony to Jesus (Luke 1:41-45, 67-79; Acts 2:4-11; 4:8-12; 13:9-11).
