WELLSPRING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
What We’re Looking For:
We are looking for young adults who are passionate about Jesus, eager to learn, and eager to serve.
What We’re About:
Our core values at Wellspring are friendship with Jesus, friendship with each other, and helping people discover/use their spiritual gifts. We believe that our highest calling is to know God. It is the essence of eternal life (John 17:3), and it was the Apostle Paul’s greatest passion (Philippians 3:7-11). It’s out of this friendship that we worship God because worship is a celebration of our experience of Him. We also believe that there’s a ceiling to our friendship with God, and that ceiling is our friendship with others. If we are not deep with God’s people, we can’t be deep with God. It’s only through deep relationships that we find healing (James 5:16), so we greatly value walking in the light (1 John 1:7). Our church is highly transparent, and we do our best to offer a platform for forming deeper friendships. In regard to training for the spiritual gifts, we believe in the Ephesians 4:11-16 model, where everyone is supposed to minister, not just the pastors. We want to use our spiritual gifts to build the church by strengthening it (Ephesians 4:12) and also to build the church by adding to it (1 Corinthians 14:24-25) through evangelism.
Dates of Internship:
The dates of the internship will be from August 1, 2010 – May 31, 2011.
Requirements:
Application, pastor’s reference letter, interview (in most cases)
Internship Program:
There will be a mix of “classroom” time and ministry time every week. The ministry that you invest most of your time in will depend on what your spiritual gifts are. If you don’t know your gifts, then we will spend time helping you discover them. The classroom time will include training in three areas: theology, ministry skills, and life skills. A summary of those areas is below:
- Theology – an in-depth study through Scripture of the essential Christian doctrines.
- Ministry skills – training for ministry in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- Life skills – training for a life of wisdom that will include subjects such as personal finances, emotional health, how to be a good spouse and parent, how to stay pure, etc.
Compensation and Hours:
The internship will be unpaid. We will work to provide housing either with a family in the church or in an official “intern home” so that you won’t have to work full-time in an outside job. The internship with the church should fill about 15 hours/week.
